Tracking breezy and rainy conditions Monday night into Tuesday

TODAY: Monday is mostly cloudy to overcast, but an approaching system will keep us warm by increasing winds from the south to 10-15 mph, generally gusting to 30mph. Some afternoon gusts may reach in excess of 30 mph. High temperatures are forecast in the mid-70s. We'll be mostly dry as well, but a few showers will be possible.

TONIGHT: The approaching low will develop thunderstorms to our west this afternoon. Showers and storms moving from south to north may graze our northern and western counties through the dinner hour. Rain chances increase through the overnight hours as the mechanisms driving the rain move from west to east. With some instability in the forecast and abundant wind shear, we'll get some limited threat for a strong storm or two, but most will only encounter moderate to heavy rain with periodic lightning and thunder. Non-thunderstorm winds will also be breezy through the evening into the overnight.

EXTENDED: Rainy and breezy conditions will persist through the morning on Tuesday, slowly coming to an end through the afternoon. The cold front will come behind the rain, and switch winds in from the west. This will drop temperatures slowly, but keep Wednesday cooler. Highs are in the low 70s on Tuesday, but we'll return to highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s through the end of the week. Rain totals may range anywhere from 0.5 to 2 inches.
