A man was charged with assault and other felonies after he allegedly stabbed a man in the Prathersville area on Wednesday night.

Cody Bass, 32, of Kansas City, is charged in Boone County with second-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. A court date has not been set.

The probable cause statement says the victim confronted Bass at 6 p.m. on Wednesday night after Bass was allegedly heard attempting to cheat on his girlfriend, who is related to the victim. Two hours later, Bass held a knife and allegedly threatened to kill the victim, the victim’s wife and the victim’s relative, the statement says.

At one point, the victim and Bass were moving to give each other a hug when Bass stabbed the victim, the statement says. Court documents say Bass pleaded for forgiveness from the victim afterwards.

Police noted seeing cuts on the victim’s hand and arm.

North Farrar Road was closed off at 8:41 p.m. for around 40 minutes, according to notifications sent by Boone County Joint Communications.
