No injuries reported in Hallsville house fire

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

No injuries were reported after a fire occurred Friday night in a Hallsville home in the 9200 block of Route OO.

Boone County Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Chuck Doss said the fire started in the kitchen of the home, and it was extinguished after arriving.

Crews arrived at the scene shortly before 10:15 p.m., according to a news release from the district. Nearly 20 firefighters responded with seven firetrucks to find flames coming from the kitchen.

The fire was contained to the kitchen and put out before 10:45 p.m., the release says. Dodd said in an email that there was "significant" fire damage in the room.

There was also smoke damage throughout the house, Doss said. No one was inside the home when it caught fire.

The cause remains under investigation.
