No change in status of All-American Ahmad Hardy, as he continues rehab

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
All-American running back Ahmad Hardy is continuing his rehab process, as the team is still waiting for his body to respond in the way it needs to to play, according to Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz.
After getting shot in the leg at a concert in Mississippi in early May, Hardy has been working to get himself back onto the field. The program is going to require him to participate in a two-week ramp up period before he sees any action on the field and, right now, he's not at that point, yet.
During Tuesday's meeting with local media members, Coach Drinkwitz said that as soon as he gets an update on the running back's status, that's worth sharing, he will inform everyone.

"I promise you guys, as soon as I get an update that's worth sharing, I will. But, he's not able to participate in a two-week ramp up, yet. So, it's the same kind of thing. Like, he's not able to go out there and protect himself in a manner that he would have to to compete in the SEC. He's working really hard, he's doing everything he can, but we're just waiting for his body to respond," Drinkwitz said. "It's trying to get the running form back. You know, when you have an injury that he's had or sustained and you have the type of repair that you had to have, it takes time for your body to process, 'okay, this is the new normal, you know, for how you're going to have to run or be athletic again.' You know, if he was me, he'd be back out there from a I don't have to play football, right. But when you're trying to be the best running back in the country, and that's what you were previously, it's a lot of work in time to get back there. And his body is just not ready yet. So, he's doing everything he can, our medical staff is doing everything they can, and we all wish it was right now, but it's not. So, you know, little by little, a little becomes a lot. We're just hoping that, you know, little by little. I know everybody's frustrated, I know he's frustrated, I'm trying not to be frustrated. You know, when he's ready, he's ready. Our job as a team is to do the very best we can until he's ready to go. If that's in a couple of weeks, great. And if it's not, it's not. There's nobody that can control it."
