Tracking another wet day and crisp fall air just around the corner

TODAY: We have another wet start today, with shower and thunderstorm chances increasing through the morning. Rain chances stick around all day, but fall this afternoon. Persistent clouds will keep highs in the mid-70s once again. Rainfall will be scattered today, bringing widespread totals as high as 0.25 inches, but some south of I-70 will have a chance at 1-2 inches of rain. Lightning is possible with today's rain.

TONIGHT: A strong cold front arrives tonight without much fanfare on radar. We'll have shower chances through the night, but the big impact of this front will be a drop into the mid-40s by Friday morning.

EXTENDED: Friday is cool as northern air continues to flow through the region. Under partly to mostly cloudy skies, a north wind should be able to keep us in the mid-50s at warmest through the afternoon. This puts our Sportzone Football Friday forecast in the 40s for much of the game. We are forecasting the coldest morning of the season so far for Friday morning. Lows are likely in the 30s, nearing frost territory for some in the north. More sunshine will try to get highs to near 60 on Saturday. It's another chilly start on Sunday, but afternoon highs are likely back into the upper 60s. We return to the 70s next week.
