Tracking a few light showers with better rain chances this week

TODAY: Overcast skies are likely again on Sunday, so you won't need sunglasses today. You may want a light rain jacket if you're leaving early this morning, as light showers continue off and on through the morning. Still, if you don't mind a light spritz or two, it's not much to worry about. No meaningful rain accumulations are forecast today. Temperatures are expected in the mid-to-upper 60s.

TONIGHT: We'll remain cloudy, but dry tonight. Temperatures remain warm, in the upper 50s.

EXTENDED: Some light showers return Monday morning, but most of the day is dry until the late afternoon and early evening. Temperatures on Monday will be in the 70s again thanks to increasingly southerly wind flow. Rain chances increase Monday night into Tuesday. A strong area of low pressure will send a cold front through the region over the course of Tuesday. This will begin as strong storms to our west on Monday night. These storms spread east and likely weaken below severe levels as they push through our region. This doesn't preclude them from dumping healthy rains across Mid-Missouri, though, as we expect potential for 1-2 inches of rain between Monday night and Wednesday morning. Rain will largely come to an end by Tuesday night. Drier and cooler weather is forecast late in the week, with a return to highs in the 60s and morning lows in the 40s Wednesday through Friday.
