Tracking summer-like heat today, rain chances tonight

THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly cloudy and warm, with highs in the upper 80s. Winds from the southwest will reach 10 to 20 mph. A few showers are possible by dinnertime, between about 5 and 7 p.m., but many will stay dry.

TONIGHT: Spotty rain continues overnight, and lows remain mild in the 70s under cloud cover.

EXTENDED: More widespread rain will move into the area Thursday morning, continuing throughout the day and into the evening. There's a low risk of flooding tomorrow with rain totals between 1 to 2 inches for many of us, so take it slow during the morning and evening commutes. Rain looks to wind down quickly by Friday morning, and much cooler air arrives for the weekend, dropping highs to the upper 60s for Mizzou homecoming.
