Tracking rain through late tonight, cooler with more sunshine Friday

TONIGHT: Light to moderate rainfall continues with another 0.5" to 1" possible through daybreak Friday. Lows in the upper 50s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy and breezy early with gradually clearing skies. Sunshine returns with highs in the upper 60s and northeast winds gusting to 25 mph.

EXTENDED: A Flood Watch expires after midnight for northwest Missouri, from points essentially west and northwest of Boonville. Showers thin out overnight as low level winds weaken and the front presses southeast. We'll hold onto lingering cloud cover for the morning, but a strong northeasterly breeze will gust to 25 mph at times, clearing clouds and keeping temperatures in the upper 60s. Winds die down overnight, but skies remain clear with high pressure to our north, making for a chilly Saturday morning in the upper 40s. Saturday looks excellent, with lows near 50 on Sunday morning. We'll warm to the mid-70s Sunday to round out an awesome weekend, but a weak cold front will cool temps a touch for early next week. The overall pattern is very quiet with northwest upper flow keeping lows in the upper 40s early in the week and a bump mid-week with an upper ridge trying to nudge in. Either way, looks like a beautiful start to the first full week of October.
