Tracking near record high temperatures the next few days

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and hot with highs in the upper 80s to around 90.

EXTENDED: Heat continues across Mid-Missouri with light south winds keeping temperatures in the 60s overnight. Sunday will be another hot afternoon as highs reach near 90 by late afternoon, with just a few passing clouds by evening. Upper high pressure sets up right overhead on Monday, pulling in stronger south winds to force highs to the low 90s, nearing records yet again. A slow moving front could approach from the north on Tuesday, bringing a chance for showers and storms by late evening, with more rain and storms on Wednesday as the front begins lifting back north as a warm front. The final push of storms arrives Thursday as the cold front moves in from the west, giving us a total rainfall around 2-2.5". A much cooler air mass sets in behind the front, with highs falling to the upper 60s on Friday with overnight lows falling to the 40s next weekend.
