Tracking freezing temperatures overnight, making for a chilly start to the weekend

TODAY: I'm tracking overcast conditions through the rest of the afternoon, with northwesterly winds at 8-12 mph. This will keep temperatures from warming up too much past the low 50s before sundown.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking clouds breaking apart overnight with northwesterly winds at 3-6 mph. This combination allows temperatures to drop into the low 30s by dawn tomorrow, and as a result, an area-wide freeze warning is in effect for Mid-Missouri.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking any lingering clouds exiting through Saturday afternoon as temperatures warm back into the low 50s. Another chilly night is expected after, as temperatures Sunday morning are back in the low 30s. Mostly sunny conditions and southwesterly winds boost temperatures into the mid-60s by Sunday afternoon. Mostly clear weather will continue through the first half of next week as high pressure settles in across the region. This will set a gradual warming trend, with upper 60s Monday and Tuesday before dropping slightly into the low to mid 60s Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.
