Columbia Spirit Halloween back open after pepper spray incident

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Spirit Halloween on Nifong Boulevard in Columbia opened at its regular time Sunday morning after closing just before 2 p.m. on Halloween, when pepper spray was used in the store.

Store manager Mike Whitaker told ABC 17 News Saturday that someone sprayed another person while in line. The store was evacuated and closed for the rest of the day to air out.

An ABC 17 News reporter noticed about 30 people waiting to enter the store 10 minutes before it opened at 9 a.m. Sunday. There were still pieces of cardboard up, noting Saturday's closure.

Spirit Halloween is set to close for the season on Monday.
