COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

14 customers are under a precautionary boil advisory as crews with Columbia Water and Light fix a water main break in Northwest Columbia.

At 12:41 a.m. Tuesday, A Boone County Joint Communications alert was sent, stating a water main break occurred near Interstate 70 Dr. SW and N. West Blvd.

Jason West with Columbia Utilities told ABC 17 News in an email that crews are working on the east side of West Blvd and there are no lane closures in place or significant traffic impacts. West wrote that drivers turning onto the outer road from West Blvd. should use caution.

ABC 17 News did not observe traffic being affected by the work.

West stated that 14 customers in the area are under a precautionary boil advisory. Another boil advisory has been issued to residents in the area Clinton Dr. off W. Ash St.

Customers should boil water for three minutes before using it for cooking or drinking, not use ice from an automatic ice maker and disinfect dishes in tap water mixed with a teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water.
